Top Barn Butchers

Meat provenance is so important and we feel if you know the farm, you know the welfare and quality of the meat.

We’re now delighted to say our beef is Top Barn Pasture Fed Hereford, reared by brother-in-law John Harper, and our lamb as of Autumn ‘22 is Top Barn Pasture Fed lamb; reared by Joanna Harper.
All our eggs are pastured eggs when not under Bird Flu restrictions, and reared by Mike Harper.
It all starts with the soil, and our animals are reared on pastures full of diverse species, which they in turn naturally fertilise for us.
Home-reared, pasture-fed, healthy, high-welfare produce – where you can really taste the difference – is what our butchers are all about.
Due to popularity during Covid, we offer both free-range Cotswold chicken and barn-reared, and all our pork continues to be fantastic Packington Free Range, from Warwickshire.

Top Barn Hereford Beef

Hereford cattle are known to be among the top beef breeds, alongside Aberdeen Angus, when it comes to taste. Our Herefords are grass fed on our Severn Valley pastures, giving all the natural health benefits as well as a superior taste. In our butchery we have two experienced butchers who demand the highest quality standards in terms of confirmation, hanging and cutting. This leaves our customers with top quality tender beef, all produced and butchered here on the farm.

Whilst we’re not ‘Organic’, we pride ourselves on high animal welfare. Only the essential administering of antibiotics, high quality concentrated feedstuffs where required, and careful environmentally-conscious pasture management. All in all good extensive farming which produces a superior product. Our livestock enjoy lush pastures in the Severn Valley, with the river making up Top Barn’s Eastern boundary.

Quality Lamb

We source lamb from around the pastures of the Severn valley and always ensure we select lamb which will be succulent and tender. You will see a wide display of chops, steaks and joints as well as more creative products and ready meals when you visit. Please do be sure to ask our butchers and tips on cooking or your own specific requirements.

Packington Pork & Chicken

All of the pork sold in the Farm Shop is sourced directly from Packington Free Range. Packington Free Range also supplies our corn-fed chickens.

Unlike most other free-range farms, all Packington Free Range pigs are born outdoors and live their whole lives in the lush green pastures of our farm at Packington. They’re not taken indoors to fatten up at the end of their lives. Packington pigs live stress-free, by always being provided with what they need when they need it.

By providing mud wallows in the summer, fresh bedding, high-quality food, a plentiful supply of water and lots of tender loving care, we produce healthy, happy pigs. With the freedom to root around in the earth and run around outside these pigs are able to have a great standard of life.
